SeaCurity Rescue Hoister (mountain sail)

The Rescue Hoister is a rescue sail and has all the necessary features to ensure the rescue of a victim who has fallen overboard from a sailboat in a horizontal position.

Since the 1970s, emergency physicians have advocated for the horizontal rescue of a person from the water. Rescue in a vertical position generally carries the risk of so-called rescue death, in which cold blood from the extremities is suddenly rushed into the circulatory system, resulting in circulatory failure.

A rescue hoist is therefore an essential piece of equipment for transporting people from the water in the correct position on board sailboats but also on professional rescue boats that have a system for hoisting the rescue sail.

The SeaCurity Rescue Hoister can be attached to the railing posts or other fixed points on board the ship using two eyelets in the included carrying bag, so that the rescue hoist is immediately available at the right place in an emergency.

The Rescue Hoister is attached to four anchor points on board the boat using the included loops and snap shackles, ensuring that the sail rests on the deck as far as possible. The tip of the rescue sail is connected to the main halyard or, in the case of sailboats, the jib halyard. The rescue sail is then lowered into the water, allowing the injured person to swim aboard. By hoisting the halyard, the person is brought to the level of the boat deck, where they can then be rescued in a horizontal position. If the person is still able to rescue themselves, they can climb aboard using the steps incorporated into the rescue sail. Additional straps are attached to facilitate boarding.

The Rescue Hoister can therefore also be used as a bathing ladder on high-sided boats.

To make the rescue hoister easier to identify at night or at dusk, reflective strips are applied in the visible area.
